It looks the same lol.
I've never had any beef with the FFXIII franchise. Thought the first game was....... ok, not awful but not great.
Thought XIII-2 was quite good, big improvement over XIII in almost every way, albeit i hate story DLC....
And so i will get this game as a FF and jrpg fan because i don't care.
The thing is i'm not hype about it, i wasn't hype over any FF game since before XI and will never be again until GOD DAMN VERSUS XIII COMES OUT.
The game looks interesting, hope interesting translates to good later on.
But in reality all i want is Versus XIII, the reason i have a PS3, and Type-0 which is quite good as well.
Biggest problems with FF13 ran the gamut of a meandering story with little information supplied to the reader/player of the world setting or the characters (or why we should care). There are a few good points in the story, but ultimately it fails and the payoff isn't there.
Other issues included the summon system that's largely useless by the middle half of the game, with characters still acquiring them by the late game. Improving weapons and equipment feels tacked off and most encounters are slap-dashed. The Paradigm system is weak, lacking of depth and often consists of buffing, healing, and smashing enemies in an MMO style setup. Rather boring, as we've seen similar (albeit somewhat deeper) combat systems from earlier games in the series and elsewhere.
FF13-2 doesn't improve much as it takes the little payoff in FF13 and invalidates with a new story quest that's ultimately invalidated by the end game (leaving no payoff). Further the game starts chucking out some goddess and prophetess which, may or may not, have been mentioned in the first game. And if it was, it certainly wasn't included in the main story line that everyone plays and was probably buried somewhere deep in the analects data log. The combat system is literally the same as the first with little deviation and some slight refinements. It barely helps, however, that neither Serah nor Noel are truly that different from each other beyond cosmetics and a (very) few exclusive sets of skills.
Perhaps LR: FF13 might give us some new game play ideas and abilities (the "equips" seem kind of interesting), but I've pretty much given up hope on getting any sort good story. I'm not sure where idea of these four worlds come from. Or why the world is ending in thirteen days (didn't it already end with the appearance of Valhalla in 13-2?). Most of what they showed makes literally no cohesive sense from FF13-2's ending.
