What is it about video games that attracts...

thread is retarded. video games dont attract/breed nerds. people choose to be a certain way.

gaming has been one of my main activities since i was 5. i can give you the history of gaming from the NES up. i dont have a niche genre that i exclusively play, pretty much open to anything. RPG's, shmups, action adventure, kart racer, puzzle game, its all open.

my knowledge and prowess when it comes to gaming is what most of you in this thread have deemed nerdy, yet if you look at me and what else i do in my free time you would have no clue that i'm that into it.

i'm in a college town, have a wonderful GF, i drink, play pool, party, rock climb, fish, play random sports, watch UFC.

not a nerd, but i will tell you that brownie from contra hard corps on genesis was one broke bastard.

dude...if i was on a dating site and i read this AND if i was a girl, i'd sooo date you.

Why aren't people who like Music just as much if not more considered nerds? [I think.]

In some cases I've seen, they are. But the reason people like this or the artist and the wheelchair guy are different is because they're doing something productive. Video games are not so much.

Agreed, winning a sports competition is much more productive...

Besides, playing hockey requires a lot of brainwork.
So much that we can barely understand what professional hockey players say whenever they talk, because of all the effort they've put in planning strategies and sniffing coke.

(And in some countries, being part of a soccer team is respectable. Not everyone can fit in an iron maiden when they do a mistake. I wish I could remember which country it was exactly... or maybe I don't really want to remember.)

Well, some people who play video games go on to make video games which can kinda be considered productive. If something makes you money, I consider it productive.

This doesn't make sense, cause why would a guy in a wheel chair have a girlfriend?
Cuz girlz have different tastes. But that's not the point I'm talking any athlete who focuses on any sports tournament.

What's so productive about those that you've listed? All I see from sports, singing, art or whatever, is visual entertainment the same way I see from pro gaming.

How is winning a sports competition more productive than winning a pro gaming tournament?

Besides, playing hockey requires a lot of brainwork.

Same goes for certain genres of pro gaming what's your point?

Now if you mean productive as in healthy activity that's just a benefit to parts of the human body. Video games also benefit parts of the human body. For example video games improve hand-eye coordination. British study shows that surgeons who play video games perform better surgical skill than those that don't play video games.
