I'm lucky I have a really open-minded family: I have many many uncles and aunts (and cousins, obviously), and none of them is against homosexuality. Even further: when I sleep with my bff, it's normal to them, even if we have 2 separate beds.

What you should say to homophobes (which I already do), is that homosexuality isn't abnormal: it exists in every race of living creatures, dogs, cats, rhino... While homophobia exists in only one race: the human race... Which is abnormal now?

Yeah, i personally think its trivial... but i only think that because of my life experiences. People with little to no experience with different genders or different sexualities are only at the mercy of their enculturation. For my family, that is the prosaic interpretation of the Bible, and the survival of the 80's AIDS "fab". I can't really blame them for being homophobic, and i can't feel disdain because they are entitled to their own beliefs. And as for the species and homosexual tendencies... Lets just say that the majority of my extended family refuses to believe in anything darwin. Except for Social Darwinism of course. HOWEVER, i'll reiterate that I do have a group of friends (and a mother[despite not officially knowing] ) who view(s) my world through a similar lens...which is all i need to function happily.

Ehh, i wouldn't go so far as to call it a "plague to modernity". It definitely makes it difficult for people like you and I to live a functionally happy life. And I'm not so keen on the subject of "modernity"... it is because of modernity that almost all traces of American Indians (et al.) have been wiped away in our current world.

It is mostly because of that adoration of an imaginary friend that most "races" disappeared on Earth. Mayas, Incas, etc, just because they were considered animals by old creeps who were scared to advance in life.
They keep old ideas (homosexuals = baaad), so I'm allowed stone somebody to death, or to sell members of my family, right?
When I say "modernity", I mean "evolution with respect", and religions sure lack respect... Religions are a plague to society, they kill liberty, and they don't get that if we are what we are, their "god" did it... Anyway, religions are just delusions, and a shelter for weak minded people (don't hate my for my opinion).
I could point out every flaw in the belief in a certain god, which I won't do here even if I'm already hating.

Assholes rule the world, and human race is the most abnormal: we are the only ones to have a god, and the only one to reject homosexuality. Coincidence? I think not.
