Teh Gheys Thread

I know this is like so 2014, but I recently bought Dragon Age: Inquisition... and can i say. HELL MIUTHERFUCKING YES DORIAN!! finally a powerful GAY male character in a game. Well.. I'm sure there are others, but he is the first (that i've played) in recent memory who is exclusively gay and not every stereotype-cliche-homogenoushomo. And it got me thinking...

Who are your favorite LGBT characters?

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that they feel the need to shoehorn gay characters onto everything? It's really just a marketing ploy to get gay people to buy their shit common denominator games.

"So progressive!"
No it's not, we're being used as a fucking merchandise tool.

Also, Dragon Age is shit. I'd play Dark Souls or Dragon's Dogma instead.

I really don't care, I would actually be bothered if the video game industry villainies and used gay people as comic relief as it used to be, at the very least if you looks past the merchandise, it can be considered an evolution, albeit slow, is not like the sexuality of a video game characters matters in any way though, it is even better if video games characters didn't had any.

In a strange and brute way, it is not hard to see that albeit in their best interest, it is not hard to see how putting a gay character is a bold decision still, even if one might not recognize, stupid people still plague people who play video games, so wouldn't be a surprise how adding a gay character could backlash at a certain game.

Also, on a interesting note, Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City, a character, one of the soldier, not playable in the main game, but in the side games (He was the leader of the "heroes team" and since you play as the bad guy in Raccoon city.) he was reveled gay after a while of the game release, so yah there was an obvious market tool there, and not a very good one, so in cases like this, were there are actually marketing of a certain character being gay, with no reason whatsoever except to attract a few easy bucks, it is just plain stupid and most people won't care for.

My heart, you can have it.

Shout out to Dark Souls for having a crossdressing, almost trans-gendered character and not making even the tiniest deal out of it.

I'm all for a more equal representation of people, providing it's thematically appropriate to the setting, as long as it's handled in a similar way. No making a big scene out of it or quietly revealing it later. Just let people find it on their own and stop making a fuss.

Dragon Age isn't horrible.. but its nothing like DS, DkS, DkS2, and DD. all of which i've platinum-ed (save for DkS2--waiting for update.) And I highly doubt Bioware is "shoehorning" LGBT characters onto their games. They have a very diverse development crew, so they usually are pretty progressive. I mean.. I was absolutely STUNNED at how well they handled a trans character (Krem) in DAI. To openly rebuke a company who is legitimately trying to have equal representation in an extremely marketable game/franchise is a little hypocritical. And reality check... we as consumers--gay or not-- are fucking merchandise tools. It's the nature of the beast. We see shit we like/identify with, and we buy it. If this is just a case of you feeling the need to rank all of these RPGs, I totally understand; but don't fight your ally here.

tldr; Those games rock, but they are diff + i like DAI, and GO! Boiware!
