Final Fantasy: Dissidia

As a former FF fan I know I should be excited about this, but unfortunately I don't. Too often has Square promised so much lately with the Final Fantasy franchise but has failed miserably.

I think Square knows that so they're trying to milk as much as they can (multiple remakes of the same old instalments and the utter rape of the FFVII legacy was obviously not enough) from fans of the series before more fans realize that the company is clearly a shadow of its former self...

It doesn't have to do with being any less...
It has to do with the fact that it is cheaper to remake the same games and get more money for doing it. Capcom got it right back in the days NES.

I personally used to like the fact that Square didn't used to remake and focus on old games. It is a tough call. I really do like the DS remakes of FFIII and FFIV, but they seriously put far too much into the whole FFVII craze. I honestly don't know where that puts me.

Saying its not what it used to be may also be a matter of not seeing a new REAL final fantasy in such a long time. The rate of release really slowed down after FFX, and FFXI doesn't actually count. FFXII had the FFTactics team and though I liked FFTactics more than FFVII-X, most people didn't.

This game is another look into the past, but it looks like it can be fun.
Does it look like it will be competitive? Not really, but at the same time I can't be sure because I might as well be looking at it crosseyed.

I've been looking forward to this game, but from the videos I'm quite sure what to make of it. It kinda seems like Power Stone meets FF (what's with all these games ripping off Power Stone lately? First Castlevania Judgment and now this!)

Either way, it'll be interesting trying to figure out how to play this game when it's released and I uh, get it. <_<

I'm excited for this, I'd have to say. I loved Kingdom Hearts 2's engine, so I'm fairly pleased with the direction it's going. The CG and designs look phenomenal, so that sold it to me with the above mentioned engine. Now people can shut the hell up about Kefka and Sephiroth battles.

I can only hope it turns out to be a decent game, with update-enabled capacity, so bugs and balance issues can be fixed.
