Final Fantasy: Dissidia

Can somebody explain wtf this game is? That trailer confused the hell out of me....I can't tell what kind of game it's supposed to be.
I'm guessing it's not going to get an international release? I don't think I could bare to hear Zidane or Squall talk...it would ruin the atmosphere 8 and 9 had.

Too late! David Boreanaz as "Leon" is already burned into gamers' minds. :P

As far as I can tell, it's just an action/fighting game featuring FF characters. The singleplayer consists of each hero fighting their corresponding villain in a 1v1 fight.

I'm not too excited for Dissidia, TBH. I don't like Kingdom Hearts very much and I haven't picked up a PSP game in a while (Crisis Core seemed cool, but for some reason I didn't feel compelled to steal it from my brother to finish).

It looks like Virtual On without the robots. And terrible.

Coherent criticism please?

If you hated both KH games then there is nothing for you to like about Crisis Core considering it plays like a dumbed down KH game. That slot machine mechanic only made the game worse with it's random nonsense. Not to mention leveling up in that game is random as it all depends on that slot machine mechanic...which activates at random. Needless to say, I hated Crisis Core, a lot. I'll prefer KH2 (which I disliked) over Crisis Core any day of the week.

From the looks of things, Dissidia is going to play like KH2. However, I'm expecting the single player to play more along the lines of a boss rush mode which is fine for me as the Org. XIII bosses of KH2 were the only portions of the game that were remotely entertaining. Everything else was a bore because Sora was such a god-modder in KH2. In Dissidia, everyone is a god-modder and the inclusion of a VS mode is what really has me interested. I just want to kick the ass of all the main stream FF fans with the lesser known characters.

The Kingdom Hearts engine isn't well designed for a fighting game in my opinion, especially after watching that. From the video, every one flies around and zooms in on each other for every attack, making it seem very much like (gasp) dragon ball z with final fantasy characters. The behind the character view reminded me of Virtual On until the two fighters simply flew into each other several times, so it looks like aim is unnecessary.

And there are no robots.
