What keeps you watching THAT anime?

Well Jaxel probably speaks about Shonens like Naruto etc. Im not much into Shonens but i do like to read Naruto. I like a lot of characters in this serie and find it really nice FOR A SHONEN. All that said Shonen aren't really my genre. I posted TTGL since i knew a lot of persons would like it and for the beauty of the animation in itself.

As for personnal favorites theres Eden of the East which i really like really nice Story and so beautifully animated.

If you want some great romance anime theres always Spice and Wolf which is really really great

If you like visual art and nice Story i highly recommand Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Now at first heres the trailer which will make you think its an all cute girl anime LULZ ( best troll ever)

Now that you think its all cute heres an AMV and a scene of the this wonderful masterpiece. Truly one of the best anime i saw in my entire life if not the best. I Highly recommend it

I love these clips, and thanks for the posts. I haven't seen these before, so thanks for the intro. I don't understand what's the problem with Shonen cartoons. I happen to be an avid watcher of a couple Shonen cartoons, and they are good anime because they're kick a** ,Shonen or not.

@ Angel sama Well Shonens are kind of simple. They are what you call mainstream. Since they are mainstream they are submitted to certain rules that less mainstream stuff isnt. If i can say it in a simpler way, Shonens are the Pop of anime. More buisness oriented than art and expression oriented. IF you would like to do this or that well you cant cause shonen jump editors dont want that so you have to do what they want which is to please the young audience obviously. Its always the same. Protagonist is weak as fuck in the beggining but he gets stronger , then bad guy is stronger so he learns new stuff and beats the bad guy , then another bad guy who is stronger arrives, protagonist trains harder or learns new stuff or some inner power is awakened then he beats that second bad guy etc....... Even so you can find some others nice stuff in shonen ( character development, interesting universe, relations between certain characters) but the basics of it are ALWAYS the same which kinda turns off people who search for more depth and artistic sense in the animes they watch

So Death Note was simple?

Pretty much so imho. If it follows that same formula like DBZ or Naruto for instance, then it is just as Mystic says.

That being said I like shonen and won't deny it. But I'm not always gonna stick around and watch something that's gonna take forever like Bleach(Aizen arc is done now it's doing filleriffic stuff). It gets repetitive like those mainstream hip-hop/ rap I detest. Shonen like to focus more on the characters looks and how they go on about themselves than a story. Just like Mystic says: The story is the typical get better then fall at new evil get better again filler filler repeat. It's just rehashed into a fetish to get everyone interested. Like shonen ninjas? Go naruto. Like shonen soul reapers? Go bleach(I prefer Yuyu Hakusho now though). Like shonen fighting beat them ups? Go DBZ. Like magicians? Go Fairy tail. All are fun to watch with your family.

Anyways, what does an anime scrub like me know? I watch whatever despite what anyone says, but will keep an ear out to what's making noise. I'm lazy to go search out because anime is just anime. Only few get to be regarded as my favs for my own reasons.

I said that because its in the Shonen Jump and is nothing like those mentioned animes. There is no constant training/power ups or over the top fights. There is just the battle of two massive intellects constantly trying to catch the other slipping. It also has a supernatural note book that can kill someone when you write there name in it. The catch is you need to at least know what there face looks like so people who share the same name don't die as a result. If you don't know there name it won't work even if you have a face to go by.
