What are the "Must Own" games of PS2?

the first one is the only one that matter ID, the first is the best of the series lol. but for the sake of giving somone who's never played a JRPG before, i listed 3 since it's on PS2 and easier to get and isn't the worst game ever, although very...... ewww.

I agree with Marginal about Grandia 2 for DC being a good game. I did hear the PS2 port was messed up tho (dunno the details). My comments about it below are for the DC version.

Grandia 2 (DC) has great graphics, good music, and a fun battle system. Main problems with the game are 1) story is pretty cliche and 2) no after game content of any kind. Also Millenia was awesome and should have been in your party more instead of Elena (but that's obviously very opinionated lol). I'd give it a 8/10.

Grandia 3 (PS2) is sorta like you take Grandia 2 and make all the characters annoying and gay. The main guy was such a fag I wanted to smack him constantly. "I wanna be a airplane pilot!!" blah blah no one cares shut up. Luckily I didn't buy this game myself but I did finish it. The battle system was fun enough to keep me entertained and I suppose I didn't have anything better to play at the time. prob give this a 6/10.

Didn't play Grandia Xtreme enough to have an opinion. Aesthetically I didn't like that they gave the character models mouths. I know that sounds funny but I liked how they looked in grandia 2 better lol. I think this one came out before grandia 3 did and since it has "Xtreme" in the title you know its not gonna have a good story or anything like that.

Unless the port of Grandia 2 for PS2 is just HORRIBLE BEYOND REASON it should still be better than Grandia 3 imo. Game has much more memorable characters.

Grandia Xtreme's main problem is the randomly generated dungeons. They're just not that interesting. The combat engine's a lot like G2. Story's pretty standard for a RPG. I played all the way up til the last boss, realized my party was far too weak to win without grinding, (I'd skipped a ton of floors in the last dungeon) and gave up. It bored me enough that I never bothered with 3 etc.

OTOH, if you like Mark Hamil's voice acting, he's in there.
