Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown

As an avid Goh player and a fan of the series, I had lost hope long ago. I'm not even all that hyped anymore.

Maybe once it is about to come out I'll be hyped again. Here's to waiting for a game that should have come out for fucking ever ago.

Ah, but remember that vertical punches and feint kicks are not unique to karate - Lee Chaolan and Feng Wei also have those, and they practice Jeet Kune Do and Kenpo respectively. Besides, I'm hoping for something a bit more exciting and exotic than Karate - we haven't had a pure Savate artist in Virtua Fighter yet, have we?

He's pure karate. And there's no Savate character outside the Jeet Kune Do stylings of the Bryants.

Also, VF5 isn't hard outside of reaction timing and some inputs. The game is otherwise fairly easy and simple compared to something like Tekken. The problem is trying to understand what you did or what's going on. Otherwise, fairly strict timing on some character's inputs and general reactions are more important in VF than anything else and VF's reaction timing is far fiercer than any other fighting game.

Is this particular version the most balanced fighting game in all of fighting game history? Let's see a source of confirmation!

VF's always been balanced, but as far as the 'most balanced in all of FG history'? Eh.

If you mean 'no overpowered characters'? Then, uh....no. Akira is SS(!) tier. Fortunately, he is very beatable, not to mention hard to play, as you might be able to tell from internet videos.

But if you mean 'where every character has a fighting chance'?

As you can tell from here, there isn't anybody lower than B tier. Even the worst characters have really good/useful tools. So even a matchup like Leifei (bottom tier, I think) vs Akira or Jacky is competitive. There aren't any 'Hilde/Algol vs. Talim/Mina' matches here, where it's RIDICULOUSLY lopsided, and I think that's what matters the most.

I don't see any contenders. If everyone is truly between S to B rank then that sounds like the most balanced fighter yet.
