There once was D.O.A (DEAD OR ALIVE)

I always appreciated DOA as a fun game with interesting and memorable characters. While I never bothered getting into it competitively, I used to play it casually quite a lot back in the Dreamcast days. The characters appealed to me much more than Tekken and especially more than VF's. If a new one ever comes out I will probably get into it, at least casually.

I can get behind this. I love DOA2 and will always defend it as a fun game. Didn't play 3, but 4 is not fun. Either Ultimate or Hardcore. In fact, I still play Ultimate now and then.

Could you tell me what you didn't like about DOA4?
If the members at DOAWorld could contact TN we'd be sure to notify them these issues, and hope DOA5 doesn't end up like DOA4 or, DOAD.

I've always liked DOA. I started playing them at 3 and I always mained Helena. I might be biased but I'll second the complaint that ninjas seem to have everything in their favor. I think the game genuinely has one of the most beautiful aesthetics in gaming, from the style to the animations to the color pallets. And it's got some great characters. It's also a lot of fun. I'd probably pick up a new one in a heartbeat if there was a console release.

I don't know what to say about my complaints. Most of them involve the counter system and yet I realize the counter system is the biggest thing that makes doa unique. (And something I genuinely enjoy employing in my favor). It seems to me like complaining about Ring Outs. I will say this though: being able to counter out of a stun makes stuns that much less appealing. And if the window were shorted there'd be that much less complaining.

It has its problems, but I rather liked the Dead or Alive series on the whole. I actually prefer the way DoA handles the "ringout" factor to VF and SC's more traditional method.

Would love to see a DoA5 happen. I prefer 3D fighters. Unfortunately, Namco seems to be the only company keeping the z-axis alive anymore.

I liked it but that was back when I was a really casual player unaware of core FG concepts. One thing I did always love about the game though were the multi-tiered stages and just general stage interactions. I wish SC would pull ideas from this game for that. Other than that...yeah i played it for the bouncing...
