Regarding the "divinity" of Jesus Christ, I have a major wrench to throw into this..

Pretty much all of Jesus's "miracles", were copied from Egyptian Gods, Greek Gods, and others.

The story of his resurrection, walking on water, healing the sick etc, is directly stolen from mythology of previous "Gods" thousands of years before Jesus.

So what I am saying, is that Christ definitely existed as a human being, but the church used these stories of "miracles" to get the Pagan followers to more easily convert.

Just an interesting fact: Jesus was NOT born on Dec 25, but scholars estimate sometime in April as accurate. The reason for Dec 25? Because the winter solstice was already a Pagan holiday, so the transition from Paganism to Christianity was easier to bare. Christianity was created for political control, and to enslave the masses.

THE REASON I EMPHASIZED THE IMPORTANCE OF A CONSENSUS, IN REGARDS TO WHAT MOST HISTORIANS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT JESUS, AND ALSO WHAT MOST SCIENTISTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT HIM…IS BECAUSE IF THE FACTS ARE AT LEAST AGREEABLE AMONG THEM, THEN I WOULDN’T HAVE SO MUCH TROUBLE BELIEVING YOU.


BUT NO. WHAT DO WE HAVE? APOLOGISTS AND SKEPTICS WHO STILL ARGUE ABOUT THE FACTS! THESE PEOPLE CAN’T EVEN AGREE ON THE EVIDENCE TO ANY MEANINGFUL DEGREE, SO HOW THE FUCK DO YOU EXPECT ME TO TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY?

As much as I agree with you, peoples minds are already made up. Especially when they reach their 20's, people tend to be stuck in their ways and aren't open to rational debates regarding their faith. I was lucky, I was introduced to Philosophy in my teens when I was still impressionable.

What I wanna know is...

WTF are Christians doing on this thread trying to convince a handful of self-admitted atheists that their wrong? If your gonna spew off that superstitious nonsense, the least you can do is have a decent argument, oh wait... THERE ISN'T A DECENT ARGUMENT FOR RELIGION.
