hey thnx a lot for that. The thread also helped me out a lot ill have to try that.
Random question if im holding back to guard wud i be able to do anything like spam a grab break whilst guarding like you do in sc4? I have no idea how to see what hand grabs u they all look the same to me. Add sum input lag and throw breaking might as well be impossible on reaction to me online
no problem.
if you're holding back to block, any button you press will have the "back-and" modifier. so holding back and spamming 1 to break a 1 grab will give you b+1. so it doesn't work like SC4 at all in this regard, but you might get lucky just the same.
at first it's really tough to tell which grab is which. but, with a bit of time, you can train yourself to tell them apart: go into practice mode -> defensive training, and select both the 1+3 and 2+4 grabs. the computer will randomly choose between them. once you feel more comfortable with 1 and 2 breaks (on both 1P and 2P sides), add a 1+2 break into the mix (these are usually "command throws", meaning you have to enter a more complicated command, like say ff+1+2 or hcb, f+1+2). not every character has command throws, so i'd suggest using Paul as a dummy-- he can take it.
most characters have preferred grabs just like in SC, but instead of RO being a factor, it's wall positioning, oki, or damage. for instance, some grabs, when broken, will have both characters switch sides, so if their back is to the wall, they'll be more likely to try that one since if it hits, yay damage, if not, yay better positioning. so keep that in mind. additionally, lower-level players tend to prefer one over the other, also like SC ;)
unless you have an amazing connection with your opponent, it's quite hard to break grabs online. this was one of the issues that sparked the Online Etiquette train of thought on TZ. there's a thread about it in the DR Online forum.
