Soulcalibur V Patch Announced for March 21

Didn't the first SC4 patch come 1 month into the game? Unless they knew what they were patching at launch I'm not sure how that would work.

It's very likely that patch was planned before the game released. Just like the first MvC3 patch that nerfed Sent. It was planned before the game was released, but due to QA and all of that, didn't release until a month into the game.

Most games are "done" over a month before the retail release. That's a long time to continue making adjustments and submit a patch to MS/Sony. I just don't want to see any nerfs. I think the top tier characters are fine as they are, it's the low/mid tier characters that need some buffs to better balance the cast.

I would be displeased to see Natsu or Asta nerfed, and if Maxi gets a nerf it should only be a small damage reduction at the most. MAYBE nerf aPat a little bit, but I honestly haven't put in enough time with him to say he's OP. Just looking at his frames, general safety and JFs, he is very, very strong.

Fix whiffing issues, buff some of the weaker characters and the game is fine. Catering to scrubs is what I hope PS doesn't do, it'll effectively kill the longevity of the scene. Here's hoping =)
The phrase "Based on player feedback" is troublesome. If we're talking about the whiny masses. The next thing you know all lows will be harmless. I'm particularly worried about Natsu. Typically balance changes aren't done with a lot of grace and she's a character on a razer's edge. The things that make her good are also the things keeping her from being crap.

Wat?

Maybe another Natsu can't punish with her short little t-rex arms, but everyone else gets at least a free AA on block.

No. NO. BIG NOOOOO!!! The majority of characters DO NOT get an AA. Tira has a high range AA. She doesn't even get one hit. Go into practice mode and validate. Less than half the cast get a reasonable punish of ANY kind on this move. This is one of those things that people assume is too good to be safe and therefore assume it isn't, when in fact it is completely spammable against half the cast.

Again, lame play. If I want to win, I will lame you out in any way possible regardless of the boos in the crowd. I want my money, not your respect.

Im on the fence about GB. The bad part of GB is that it might be too easy to do. But the good part about it is that it makes shitty characters like astaroth more viable. Overall, I think GB might need to be nerfed just a little bit. The thing is GB adds a whole new dynamic to the game, and at this point a big nerf on it would be too much of a knee jerk reaction. Especially when taking into account that GB wasn't that significant in the last two major tournaments, so I think the best thing to do is to take a wait and see approach. With that said, we haven't even figured out everything and at this point only the most glaring things/bugs should be patched.

It reminds me of pre-patch SC4 but even dumber in this one. In simple terms it needs to be toned down. In SC4 even though it was irritating it made sense and could be reversed by going more aggro, 4g, etc. In this one the logic behind it doesn't make sense. JG'ing protects against more block damage but gives no return on block bar worth talking about. Going aggro unlike SC4 and BD doesn't give u bar back. Style of play has no impact on controlling block damage in this game. It plain and simple just rewards pressing buttons and is skewed in favor more so for certain characters.

Oh and SU ... your dealing with GB just fine. Now if they nerf that non sense damage off of Maxis 6a+b BE than you might have some problems lol

Are u kidding? I did even worse against ur Asta this time around than before and I was crushed even more this time around with a number of situations being unavoidable. You stole quite a few games and rounds from me just from gb's alone. This set I chose to aggro all the way through as well which convinces me even more. I did very little spacing and pseudo turtling just to get a better confirmation and it doesn't matter.

If Maxi 6a+b BE damage got nerfed so bad I didn't like it. I might just drop the character depending on the impact it has on him. I have quite a few characters on the reserve list in this one so no biggie.
