Roundtable: The Year of Fighting Games

Save for the fact that they don't know shit, right?

One of the editors (Dave was it?) is part of those groups of people clinging to the past thinking that VF is still better than Tekken.

VF is still better than Tekken.

VF is still better than Tekken.

Nope. The two are different now. Tekken used to be a wannabe VF, but that's no longer the case now. Tekken's not better than VF, but VF isn't better than Tekken either. They've moved into different directions.

It's like comparing Guilty Gear to Street Fighter basically.

Did Tekken borrow a lot from VF? Sure. Did GG borrow a lot from SF? Yep.

Is GG the same game as SF? Not in the least.

Some SF people don't like GG, and the same can be said about some GG people regarding SF.

Tekken's it's own game now. Much like how GG is. Or how SC only plays like SC, but originally borrowed a number of elements from Battle Arena Toshinden.

Its PURELY opinion that VF is better than Tekken. Tekken is a GREAT fighting system, people who SUCK at it, tend to complain about it, much like idiots who claim SC is a masher because they don't know shit about it. I respect VF for it's technical depth and required percision, but the poster above is right, they are different games...

Tekken BORROWED from VF? That's new to me, last I check VF5 bit all kinds of shit from tekken (non-canned oki damage, crumple stuns, similar tech system, same jumping and while landing mechanics). WTF is Tekken borrowing from VF?

Tekken is a game that evolved on it's own, had ups and downs, and is now a better game overall. T6:BR is hands down one of the funnest fighters I have ever played and it will be enjoyed on a competitive level for years to come.
