I think what he means is that if you think RE is out to tell a deep, thought-provoking story... you need to go buy an RPG. I mean, when has RE not had a silly-yet-fun story?

No, it's not. I'm not saying it as a negative comment. I am saying it won't make sense for a second person to be playing in her story but it's good that they are willing to do it anyway. I'm saying everything in the game doesn't have to fit perfectly into the story to be worth putting in a game. Mercs mode for example makes no sense in the story. Who cares, it's a great mode.
