Will PS4's camera have the same capabilities?
No. The PS4 camera is designed to work in conjunction with the controller; it's by no means a Kinect. Think of it more like augmented reality. The Kinect is more about tracking the body of the player. Both offer voice and face recognition.

I still don't see a use for these technologies in games though. I bought a Kinect because I saw potential in the technology, but it's shit. Sure, the technology itself is impressive, but that's meaningless when none of the developers can do anything clever with it.

I agree, and also...
"are you intrigued?"
"you're flingin' flangin' right I am"

the PS camera and the Kinect both utilize Augmented Reality tho. AR can be something that takes something digital and puts into the real world via a camera, but also allows for other fun stuff to happen besides putting things in or taking things out. manipulating space, and creating magic etc... Pretty much any digital camera from web cam to cell phone cam can utilize AR.

but also, body tracking and sensors can be used for AR purposes as well.

so I'm not really sure how Ps camera is augmented reality, where as kinect is not...
