PSN DOWN WTF?!1

Any ETA on this BS? like... do they even KNOW how long this crap will take to get back up? Like, i know they are re-building PSN security from the ground up, but this is getting RIDICULOUS !~!~!
 
I'm kind of a bit more concerned about my info being compromised. I dunno...something about a groups of hackers that likes to quote nerd meme's and techno sci-fi AND has the power to do what they just did is a bit more concerning. All those plots involving hackers to fuck the "system" up or some shit is not something I tend to worry about givin the lack of practicality and planning needed to do so...but you never expect this brand of hackers to ever do something this big...and I'm actually legitly wondering...will they do some crazy movie plot scheme with this?!? I mean activists will do things to make a point and thus dramatic scenarios are a theme. Is there something really fucked up they can do with all that info that got compromised?

The news is so back and forth is Anonymous to blame or is it a faction of Anonymous, or someone else?

I wouldn't be surprised if people within anonymous had a hand in it and they backed off so quickly because they realized this was big trouble. I don't think it was an organized thing though, mostly they just run scripts, no real hacking. This was supposedly a genuine hack. That apparently downloaded for three whole days before they realized it was going on. It might just be some other geo-hot activist or somebody looking to use geohot activism as a cover or someone who knew that we'd think that they'ed use geo hot activism as a cover and blah blah blah.

It could even be that there was no hack at all and this is some bullshit that resulted from trying to put Steam on PSN or something and blaming hackers is a convenient way for sony to cover their asses and simultaneously launch some anti-anon pr. Lord knows what it really is. It could be a million things. At this time, just be on the safe side and call your bank.

They did an interesting thing though on the topic of dramatic scenarios in a british newspaper. Some guy had noted that if they took seven cents from every account they'd wind up with something like 53 million dollars. Provided they could do that that would be no chump change.
 
i'd donate 7 cents to someone for bringing down sony. :D

i think john hit it in his second paragraph. if Anon cared about your credit card info, they could get it a million different ways. call me a conspiracy theorist, but i believe that sony simply got brought down by a DDoS from Anon and is redoing their security and saying info may be compromised as a way to sway the public support into their favor in spite of some massive doucher legal bullshit they are trying to pull.
