PSN DOWN WTF?!1

Do you really think that Lobo? Having your customers trust you with their information seems like a more important issue.

xbox live means, buying a system, controllers, and rebuying all my games that are only really used for online multiplayer. I would love to own both but not in a spot to do it at the moment.

It's just a matter of time before they breach the new security. No one is safe in teh interwebs.

Also Lobo nice theory. It's definitely easier to swallow than the fact that 70 mln people lost their privacy ;p

They've hired some external security professionals to look into the issue anyway, so hopefully they can give the new PSN a better security framework. As for the cause of the issues, it could lie with:

a) anonymous, but after having talked to them on IRC, that seems unlikely,

b) the Rebug CFW development which allowed mapping from the SP-INT ( Dev servers) to the retail unit servers ( though this was largely limited to select titles, usually Call.of...), though using Rebug it is true that CC verifications were skipped ( as confirmed by Math in a tweet ,http://twitter.com/#!/mathieulh),

C) it was discovered a few weeks ago that each time the ps3 boots and connects to the PSN, it sends data to sony in plaintext ( ie not encrypted, http://pastie.org/private/97oth9v5tspkiztwwdmnga ) so, its likely that gave hackers an idea or two... in light of some research done by SKFU ( http://www.ps3hax.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/psnlog.jpg) , it is suggested that the vulnerability analysis began perhaps in february ( agreed by http://www.ps3hax.net/2011/04/psn-and-credit-card-info-stolen-in-early-feburary/ )... it seems that [DNS] Canonical: a65.197.244.172.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com Numerical: 65.197.244.172 (aka psn) needs to be looked into.

I'm hoping that it isn't a big Sony conspiracy, but im thinking that Sony wouldn't bring this sort of attention on themselves so quickly. Anyways, i'll see you will my 1A happy sophitia in 1 bar ranked when its back online huh, seems like a great way to welcome a new PSN.
