Power Stone Tierlist and Discussion

I loved Powerstone back in the day. I used to play it for days on end with my buddies after school.

Someone needs to start a Facebook petition for Powerstone 3. Maybe also request that Powerstone 1 & 2 be brought over to XBLA and the PS Store with online play, but no stupid crossover characters like in PowerStone collections, that shit was broken.

Also if they make Powerstone 3, they need to use the Powerstone 1 announcer voice. It was a dude with a heavy Japanese accent and it was hilarious. While the Powerstone 2 announcer was memorable, I really disliked him compared to the first.

And for the love of god Capcom, if do you make PoSt3, keep it pure! No SF guest characters. I have a bad feeling we will see Ryu in it or something. >_>

I have been considering putting Ayame down a bit on my list. She has amazing strengths, but some glaring weaknesses when you get down to it. I am only referring to power stone 1 here, her weaknesses I am refering to are gone in 2.

Jack is top tier really? he's so slow tho...

and ayame is not top tier she does shit dmg.

Wang Tang and Falcon is top tier imo just cuz he's got a double jump.

then again i didn't play the game competitively. i was scrubb. =P

sega should srsly consider doing a remake for the current gen consoles...
facebook page. go.

Power Stone is a capcom game, I don't think sega can do anything about it.

Ayame may not do as much damage as the rest of the cast or have nearly as much health. However she has a lot of speed, a huge dodge that protects her from most any kind of aggression, some of the best wall tech counters, and very safe slams and wall/pole moves. Her super form is also pretty safe even when an opponent knows its weaknesses. Though she has a hard time getting in she does get dizzies pretty easy. I'm starting to think she might only be top of tier B but I'd have to get more gaming sessions in to figure it out and I don't have enough people to play against anymore to get a good idea.

Why is Jack good? Yes his moves peed on the ground is slow but he is also very small when moving. Some characters can't hit their jumping punches on him. His turnaround strikes are amazing. I don't know what the people at capcom were thinking when they made his turnaround kick because it seems like it dizzies if he hits with two at the same time and when Jack dizzies some painful shit is going down. Jack as probably the best dodging in the game especially since he is able to counter attack better than other people with good dodges. Jack has a lot less offensive properties than other characters but he is very effective at defensive maneuvers and controlling the map.

Having a double jump is AMAZING in power stone. Its one of the reasons I consider Falcon and Ayame so high up there. However that by itself is not enough to make up for Wang Tang's weaknesses.

Grabbing all 3 stones in PS1 meant game over. I pretty much agree with Tiamat's description, PS1 was broke.
Though you didn't clearly make a contradiction here I am sensing a misunderstanding. Tiamat wasn't saying that grabbing the 3 stones in PS1 was the end of the match. Tiamat was saying that a lot of the time grabbing the stones were more harmful to yourself than your opponent.
