Do you miss the "good ol' days?"

No online multi-player. Got some friends nearby?
This is truly bittersweet.
The fact that there is online gameplay nowadays is amazing. But we become less and less social with its' existence. Sounds ironic?
It might be very easy to do some social networking, but the more you do that the harder it becomes to socialize in real life.

i miss these

OK. I'll join in.

The first gaming console I played on as a kid was the Magnavox (or Phillips) Odyssey 200 [see spoiler above]. It ran on C batteries, score was kept with plastic sliders (no on-screen scoring), and it was controlled with 3 knobs attached to the unit. This humble, but wonderful device began my life-long love of video games. (R.I.P. Ralph Baer)

Next came the famous Atari 2600. A good chunk of my friends in school had one, so we often traded game cartridges once we were done with them (there was no game rentals at that time - at least not in my town). Department stores would sometimes have demo cabinets [see spoiler below] that allowed you to try a variety of games. My mom could pretty much drop me off in the electronics section, and I'd quietly entertain myself. (It was a different time)

Of course if you wanted to play better quality games at the time, you had to get yourself and some quarters to an arcade, or some other place with game cabinets. After all, who wants to be stuck calling this shit Pac-Man...

It was there that first really started to enjoy fighting games. No, not Street Fighter. Karate Champ [see spoiler below]. No life bars, no specials, hell no attack buttons! Just your two joysticks vs. your opponent (and the occasional charging bull).

I could go on (I have been gaming for nearly 40 years), but there are other, better resources for gaming history online.

Assuming you made it this far, thanks for reading.

My gaming days started in 1990s. So things like GameShark, Pokemon Blue version, Gran Turismo, Street Fighter 2, Sonic the Hedgehog, Soul Edge, and more.

Pokemon Blue
I remember the days when my bro had his wretched Butterfree destroy my team. Even my starter Ivysaur. Hated his sleep powder nonsense. Now I don't play pokemon anymore. If I did play again(which I probably won't), I'd still wreck my bro since he thinks Charizard is awesome and I have an EV trained team based around my boy Gyarados(Mega Gyarados also rocks). I was about 10 loving this series. Favorite pokemon were Gyarados, Eeveelutions(Vaporeon specifically), Milotic, and Infernape. Suicune being my favorite legendary.

Street Fighter 2
Street Fighter 2. I had a man crush on Ryu and still do. Was about 5 seeing my hero do stuff. Got into Alpha series and loved Sakura. Even to the point Sakura>every other girl in Street Fighter. Nowadays I'm curious to learn the Street Fighter games competitively.

Soul Edge
Tekken was fun, but this game was what started it all for me. Was about 8. Once SC2 dropped, I picked Yoshi and never looked back on the series. I'm eagerly waiting for the next installment.

Gran Turismo
This game made me love to learn cars more. Still on GT6 if anyone plays that.

Sonic
There's good games of them, and bad ones. The first game I probably played in my life was Sonic 2. Still a Sonic fan.

There's more, but I only posted the ones that kinda matter most to me.

Extra bonus.

GameShark
GameShark was my salty approach to getting what I want. Trust me, you aren't a real gamer if you never cheated to get what you wanted as a 10+ year old. I finally was able to see Crash Bandicoot 2's true ending, or unlock all of Tekken 1's characters, or etc.
