Wow that's a huge, and ridiculous, generalization over all anime that comes out. That's a joke. It's true there's a lot more moe blob and ecchi stuff but that's because there's a lot more anime in general coming out, like a lot more.

Shiki got a 7/10 from me if i remember correctly. Wasn't AMAZING. Was quite good though.

Well i been watching anime for a long long time and i fell out once i saw Lucky Star and good lord was that horrible and then K-on followed behind and as i started following anime even more it started to drop more into the ecchi/moe blob syndrome. You're right not ALL anime is like that but out of every 20 anime you will find a 3 or 4 gems in the rough of garbage that follows behind it. Hence why i think anime back then was better than anime now: NHK no yokosou, Eden of the east (one of the newer ones), honey and clover, ippo, Jojo, etc etc my list can go on and even with the obscure like Jungle Hale noochi guu but i seen so much it kinda fell flat for me in the years.

There has always been tons of awful anime every year. The reason it seems like there's less good anime now is because you probably weren't involved in the anime scene and following seasons back in 1994 or whenever. There are still plenty of good shows coming out every year, you just need to be able to sort them out from the rest of the garbage.

I agree I dropped out of anime in... well the year K-on came out so... 2010 or 11 dont remember but I have fell off and just read my manga from time to time but that is kinda falling off for me. I will watch the Persona 4 anime and whenever they decide to remake the kenshin series since the creator said he wants to do it again. Plus the new jojo anime has also have me intrigued. So im rather loose on anime now but i will watch what i can whenever i get a recommendation for some.

You seem to think that a 10% ratio of GOOD is uncommon or bad when it's the same with EVERYTHING EVER.

This is literally a law (not literally), Sturgeon's Law "ninety percent of everything is crap" . This is a THING, a thing that's existed for years and years. Even back in the day of ANIME this was true. I honestly don't think you've seen enough anime my man.

I'm actually against this law though that 90% of everything is mediocre because i have a high tolerance for stuff and have an incredible amount of patience.

Moe and Ecchi are just genres, incredibly popular right now sure but it's just a thing. I don't dislike any genre, that's the key here. I like everything on it's base idea level, it's up to the writers and directors to make it good. It can be about anything.

K-ON btw is good, not FANTASTIC, but good. WHY? Because it's actually somewhat well written. Add that to decent comedy, amazing animation quality (KyoAni is godlike of course), good music scores.... also bad ones.... and you have a good show. It's a simple matter.
Same with Lucky Star except replace good music with an incredible amount of anime references and remove any genre and boom a good show.

It's the-
