HotD doesn't offer anything that hasn't been done before in a zombie series, besides lots of tits. Animation is pretty nice, but that can't carry a series.

Also, not having an overarching plot does not equate to being pointless.

On the other hand, being able to watch episodes out of order technically doesn't mean the whole series lacks an overarching plot either. Easiest example is GitS, where they even listed some episodes as Standalone or as relating to a certain overarching plot before the episode began. In other anime you call these filler, but the standalone episodes in GitS had so much more purpose than the filler episodes of other anime. Anyways, that's just a topic of terminology and connotation.

Point is, whether it's a slice of life like AzuDai or cyberpunk like GitS, having episodes that are easy to jump into isn't pointless.

Also, watch Nichijou.

You guys are missing something important in my "pointless" talk. The reason of this was to have a CHILL anime, any and all anime that have easy to jump in episodes are comedies, normally out there, or monster of the week style shows that don't try to have a mystery. These aren't chill shows, Azumanga isn't a chill show most of the time it's kind of crazy. While having an Aria style series that doesn't have connecting episodes would be kind of pointless. That's what i was talking about.
I think maybe Sketchbook is the best chill and episodic show out there, but even then not really.

And you say you can make a list of people who dropped it because of fanservice? They did it because it was like zombie hentai? CAPS LOCK, THAT WAS THE POINT OF IT'S EXISTENCE, IN EVERY WAY. And i have a 93% of japan approval rate to back it's greatness up lol. You cant knock something for setting out to do exactly what it was intended for and doing it extremely well. You can't say Hamtaro is a bad show because it's too kiddy. it's a damn kids show, and it's a good one.

I agree that Hamtaro was awesome. I mean it was on Toonami even before it started putting on american shows. well hamtaro isn't american anyways but I meant before Toonami started sucking. And for the most part, most people that looked up HOTD didn't know that it was made for mainly fan service. They see that its supposed to be about a zombie apocalypse but in anime form and that's what drew people's attention. but they didn't get what they were wanting so it's only natural to loose interest.

basically, like I said before, you have your taste and other people have theirs, and I have mine. I dive deep into stuff and if nothing is there then I have no more point in looking. ARIA isn't pointless because each episode has its own lesson. Like Microgamer said GITS didn't have connecting episodes all in a row. they were thrown out and had many episodes where you could watch it in any order. the same with Cowboy Bebop. Once I watched the second or third to last episode and I thought it was half way through the cowboy bebop series. There is a huge list of anime that have stand alone episodes but aren't pointless. the people making these shows know that and therein make a lesson attached to each episode. that way you can come away with something besides the eagerness to watch what happens next because of a cliff hanger. ARIA teaches about life lessons and enjoying the little things. sometimes I find myself surprised and coming to a realization that they are correct and feel a sense of inspiration or ease. Do you still find that pointless?

P.S. about that pon pon pon thing you're the second person to bring that up in a week's time so I guess I'll look into this artist. I just have to get past the insanely bright colors.
