There is a second season for a reason..lol...The reason I love it is the paths they take to get there. That is the reason I love romance anime so much. While Kimi Ni Todoke may not have a love triangle, there is still alot of mystery in the relationship. The anime is not for everyone.. but just give it a chance.lol
Well that's a better answer than I usually get when I ask these questions. I get why it's popular, I get why a lot of these animes are popular. When I watch a show any show really the story has something that keeps you coming back, something to look forward to, or hope for...
With this show, it looks like there is a lot of charm to it, and the female lead reminds of the one in The Wallflower which was hella funny. But with romance stories if they're isn't a bit of uncertainty or comedy or trial or something else, with an already obvious outcome I can't really invest into it.

I'll just keep looking around.

Semi-spoilerish comment, but the road to the 'obvious outcome' is really long.

The main appeal to KnT has always been the characters for me. They range from comedic to selfless and caring. The show in general is very heartfelt. If I'm scoping out an anime, I usually give it at least three episodes before deciding whether to invest in or drop it. The first episode of KnT sets up the premise, but you see a lot of change and growth with the following episodes.

I would say give it another chance, but at the same time I'll warn you that the pace is slow in regards to certain developments, as mentioned at the beginning of this post.
