How young is too young to play sc4??

i also grew up in the age of contra, super mario bros, donkey kong etc. I have had the privledge of growing up and watching this industry evolve into what it is today. Im a firm believer in letting a kid have his own mind and most of all just be a kid. BUT with the correct guidence. Parents are so quick to blame behavior problems on society. So quick to put a child on ritalin because they "cant control thier kids". I personally think that the reason you "cant control you kids" is because you didnt give them the proper guidence in the first place, and now you are screwed. Granted there are some cases (which i believe are rare but thats my opinion) that proper medication and counsling are nessecary. But in most cases (imo) you can blame most if not all on the parenting.
my kid is my best friend. We do everything together, and he looks at me like im his hero. i couldnt ask for anything else. considering I grew up in a very disfunctional family that hated each other, im very proud of my son and what he has accomplished. I dont want credit for what he is today. all i did was point him in the right direction. he did the rest himself through trial and error.
I found it amazing that rpg games helped your buddy to read. I can totally see why that would work. you have to read to know what to do next. thats genius! my boy had an issue with that early on. he would skip over important dialog and then ask for my help and i wouldnt have a clue. i found it hilarious.

On the one hand, there is moderation about playing videogames.

On the other, there is an age rating for a reason.

This puts me on the fence. But it hurts when you can't watch comfortably because the spikes are piercing your ass.
