My ideas/worries from stream monstering it:
a) Clean hit- I don't think it's that big of a deal. Yeah, it's random, random's not good, but is it really a huge damage difference? I believe this is something players can internalize and adjust for. Random damage is in many venerated games as well. One suggestion I would make is clean hits should have a stronger visual difference.
b) Just Guard- my worries are lessened, I don't think it's something people are going to randomly be doing, and as long as there are moves that can punish baited JG attempts, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, unless people learn to do it on reaction to everything, which I doubt will happen now seeing the speed of the game and the fact throws seem good. I think it's a unneeded mechanic, but I think at worst, it won't be abused for months, and at best it will be a gimmick.
c) The idea of styles being in CAS, but not as an actual or bonus character really irks me on the competitive side. I'd want those chars to be tourney legal. That said, I hope ranked mode online is limited to tourney legal characters.
d) Question: what was the Brave Edge motion, and what was Ivy's grab motions if anyone figured them out. I've head Ivy's grab motions are now 2846-style or something, which is a big improvement, but would like some confirmation on these things.
