Hate Speech: Come to the Dark Side

it's a shame you didn't mention he limitation of not living in America, or rather, living in the UK.

that said, this still spoke to me about my recent decision to not go to the UK launch party. unfortunately you didn't bring up anything I hadn't already considered. no car pool option for me, its £60 train fair or nada, and people on fighting game communities hate me. Of all the people I've met via fighting games, there's this horrible atmosphere on the rare occasion we talk... and it's not friendly or exciting, in fact it's practically silent. and the amount of arguments over losing is just stupid :/ speaking of which, online, typing, always seems to result in either no response or some kind of argument... although not necessarily here, I don't post here much because i feel I already know what responce an online only, custom character only, aggressive style Amy player would receive. yeah, I'm
rambling...

it's just, if I'm not gonna meet people, win anything, or play SCV early, then what am I spending 8-9 hours of life and £60 on? :/
Well this is a positive article about the appeal of the competitive scene. But there obvious challenges. Getting new individuals interested in the competitive side of an FG is hard. Getting them to spend money to travel for it even harder. I mean even those that are willing and eager to go can't always do it for various reasons. And I never want to force anyone to go, only to have his/her wallet regret it afterwards....despite how fun it might be. And that's the reality of it.

But what I can sell you is the atmosphere.
Of course this requires a coordinated effort from us the community, and yourself the player. If we're doing our job right on 8wayrun, and promoting the right atmosphere to keep people interested...then bit by bit more people will want to invest into the tournament scene. Baby steps. If I am to ask you to support the community, in turn it's only fair you ask what has the community done for you.

Prime examples, VC and Hilde. Here on 8wayrun we have a habit of looking at the positives and ignoring the negatives. Blind optimism is dangerous because where an opportunity to fix an issue arises, we don't deliver until the problem festers.

But if you can't travel, you can still tune in for tournament streams. Remove your adblock, because we need that ad revenue :)

I am that underdog who can't make it to tournaments.. Hopefully sc5 online will be "good enough".

I was gonna say more, but I can see 3 people here who would love to rip me a new one after everything I post. Criticize someone enough, and they just might stop talking.
