Hate Speech: Come to the Dark Side

Another great one, I've definitely wanted to get into the competitive scene for a while now but as I understand there aren't many SC tournaments here in the NYC area that I'd be able to attend (too young to drive, inflexible schedule, etc.) Of course I'll figure something out when I'm ready, but that's been my "I'll give it a try, but..." for the past year or so.

You're aware that there are players in the NYC area though, right? You're lucky enough to live near one of the greatest public transportation systems known to man. Poke your head around and see what trains go down to 8 on the Break in Dunnelan, NJ. Weekly tournaments take place there, and I'm sure Calibur will be included shortly.

We've had a number of very young players join the tournament scene through various means, so age itself is not an automatic DQ. Do yourself a favor and try to make it to at least one of the 8 on the Break tournaments. Many players from NYC attend these, and it's right across from the Dunnelan train station.

As a general post, don't forget to use your local game stores as a resource for finding players. Is your store holding a midnight release? Guess what all those other sweaty nerds are there for. Tell them to shower up and decide on a meeting place for weekly sessions.

Attending college? Who wants to do homework when there's Calibur to be played? I've met people at college just by leaving my door open while playing, and some of those people have become some of my best friends over the years. Conversely, if you see someone playing, don't be shy about busting in there and lettin em know.
