Good/Bad Game Companies

With the evolution of games and technology one would expect high quality products as the bar gets raised, sadly this isn't the case. In today's world games have become such money makers and huge media hits that we're starting to see a sort of uncaring hollywood emerge, i.e. game companies that are in for the profit only. On the flip side we're also seeing a wave of companies admit fault and shown willing to change. And then we have some companies that just love their audience. So Rate your most hated/loved game companies.

NAMCO: B-
I love SC with all my heart, but it's no secret they love the casuals more than they should. Lack of updates hurts too.

Valve: A+
If one company loves their fans more than any other, it's this company. Constantly updating games, asking for input, using input, and throwing a shout out with great games such as Team Fortress 2.

Capcom: A-
I've never been a Capcom fan. But lately they've been showing a real fan service with it's titles. From big name games to retro virtual consoles they're really impressing me.

Activision/Infinity Ward: F or C?
I'm torn. On one hand I'm ROYALLY pissed of with their latest hit COD:MW2. The game is horrifically unbalanced (Knife > gun WTF???), loaded with hackers and lag, and no dedicated servers. On top of all this the company has shown no interest in meeting peoples demands despite huge petitions and attacks on reviews such as Amazon.com. Probably the biggest disappointment in gaming history. On the otherside, they have come forth and admitted their Spiderman games sucked and are doing a retake. I like companies that can admit they fucked up and work with us...now if only they can talk to the Infinity Ward division.

Funcom: F
Like Infinity Ward, they came out with a game called Age of Conan that had the same story. Game had tons of hype and promise, and when we got the game? We were met with a great game at first...till we realized the game barely had any content, classes were imbalanced, and the game was glitchy as fuck...oh and like Infinity Ward's promise of IWnets performance...they too also failed to meet their claims. It took 6months for updates to cover what was listed on the box! Despite forums ragin with solutions and people willing to wait it out, they chose to never respond or converse and admit failure. That game is currently dieing after no one chose to resubscribe. Serves em right.

I'm only going to bother listing developers.

Sting: A
Right now Sting is my favorite developer cause they make cool RPGs for portables.

Arc Systems: B+
Best fighting game company although their most recent game (BB) isn't something I'm terribly fond of. BBCS should help me like it more. they always have plenty of modes and great training mode is standard in all their games I've played

Namco: B
Soul Calibur games are always good but a bit far inbetween and no updates really. also....no record mode in T6? that should be standard namco, no B+ for you

Nippon Ichi: B
the stuff they actually develop themselves tends to be quite good, though they tend to do more remakes than I'd like instead of doing new games

SNK: D
dropped the ball on KOF12 way too hard. charging full price for that game is criminal. they mostly focus on doing endless remakes of old ass KOF games and stuff.

Namco-Bandai: B-. As a fan of their fighting game franchises, NB did alright with SC4 and an outstanding job with T6. Like or hate either game, both are powerful franchises, its shown in the past Namco loved Tekken, so when T4 got low reviews...they went back to what worked(see: sold well). With SC4, it seems they are aiming SC at the more casual crowd. Makes me sad to see it, but hey. What ya gonna do?

Valve: A+. If any company wants to make a game and the game's fanbase(overall) happy, they should take a gander at Valve. Sure, Valve made a mistake with Orange Box on 360 and even moreso on PS3. But on PC, Valve constantly updates their games to fix small issues to sometimes full scale upgrades. With L4D1 and 2, Valve is showing they CAN do console as well, by simply bundling up a large pack of PC updates from the past few months.

Capcom: C+. Capcom is banking on old stuff. With fresh paints and pretty colors. SSF4, DR2, LP2, MM10...Sequels and updates. Not to say this is bad, but capcom seems to be playing it safe come this year.

Epic Games: D+. Epic Games, the creator of the Unreal Tournament games, Gears of War, and the highly acclaimed Shadow Complex. These guys are no stranger to the PC world, and I have to give them credit when dealing with GoW1 MP. The first map pack was free and the 2nd one was made free a few months later. In Gears, the only problem I had was the ridiculous host advantage. Gears 2 opened a thousand more problems and issues, and Host Advantage returned in full force. At least they get the single player parts right.

Bungie: D. When you think Xbox, you think Halo. You can thank these people for that. After H1 got big in peoples basements and MLG, tons of money was made. H2 was very hyped and while it didn't truly deliver in the campaign department, it shined with Xbox Live Multiplayer. Forever changing the standard of Xbox Live play. Then Halo 3, the most overhyped game in existence, right there with GTA Vice City. I came in hard and strong, but like a plasma gernade, exploded on everyones backs. Plagued with various small annoyances, everyone did accept this as the last Halo. And it was...Until Bungie rose up for some more money, Halo 3 ODST was a nice step up from H3's campaign, even though it featured no familar characters. Bungie has a chance to fully redeem themselves in my eyes, with Halo: Reach. Which from reading spots from a Game Informer, sounds like they finally upgraded Halo 1 to today's standards...I really hope they get this new mutliplayer right. Since they obviously can't make anything besides Halo games these days.

Atlus-A+
I didn't mention most since they have already been said, but I think Atlus deserves some love. Atlus is one of thefew companies that really listens to fans, and they will also localize games that others won't even though it's obvious there isn't much profit in it.
