okay I wanna have a discussion like a legit discussion wtf can we talk about though like everything has been done to death
I guess I'll bring this up:
Aerys II Targaryen (aka the Mad King for you peasants) lusted after Joanna Lannister for some time, even before she had wed her FIRST COUSIN Tywin. Joanna was one of his wife's ladies-in-waiting, and she was near him frequently. Once she and Tywin fell madly in love, Aerys probably got insanely jealous, even though his madness wasn't really apparent yet. Anyway, in A Dance with Dragons, Barristan remembers that Aerys "took liberties" in the bedding of Joanna. This could be anything from some really intense groping/fondling to full on penetration (and not only does he recall that, but he describes Daenerys' eye color as nearly identical to Ashara Dayne's, thus bringing forth another theory, but that's for another time). ANYWAY I'm basically trying to say that Jaime and Cersei are NOT Joanna and Tywin's children, but Aerys and Joanna's.
Why would I say something so ridiculous:
- Cersei loves fire, she's mesmerized by it. After the last dragons died, every Targaryen yearned for fire. In the show (and possibly in the books) Quaithe says "They [the dragons] are fire made flesh, and fire is power." Not only does fire excite her, it fuels her lust for power. When Cersei burns the Tower of the Hand, she describes the instance as an ecstasy. Cersei was also the first person to think of using wildfire as a defense against a siege.
- Jaime and Cersei have a mostlymonogamous relationship. Cersei is the only woman Jaime loves. However, in A Feast for Crows we discover that Cersei was in love with Rhaegar, as well. She drew herself and the prince on a dragon for crying out loud! If the theory is true, Cersei will have only felt affection for men within her immediate family, a la Targ tradition.
- Jaime has prophetic dreams, and the Targaryens have been able to use magic to some extent in the past (Shiera Seastar, Bloodraven, Daenerys, the Dragonlords of Old Valyria).
- The irony of Tyrion, a monster in most people's eyes, being Tywin's only son would be priceless
My GOD okay
Well first off, as Quaithe says, fire is power, and regardless of whether it's fire or not, Cersei has a lust for power in any way she can get it, so perhaps she has some sort of affiliation with Fire because she knows fire is powerful and destroys. Burning the tower of the Hand no matter how she did it would have given her a good adrenaline rush.
Jamie and Cersei's relationship would also kinda make sense then since she actually compares their relationship to the Targaryens, but also everyone seemed to be in love with Rhaegar, even his best friend. Targaryens also TRADITIONALLY marry in the family but there's a lot of cases where they've married out of the family, like Dany with Drogo (Despite being forced in to it she grew to love him), Rhaegar and Elia, and I know there's more past Targaryens who did but I don't remember off the top of my head.
A lot of characters seem to have prophetic dreams, now if they were actual dragon dreams that would be another story
Lol Tyrion the last true Lannister.
THAT'S MY TAKE ON IT the theory actually sounds like it would be pretty plausable, but I also don't think Cersei and Jamie really have any Targaryen characteristics physically, they both have gold hair and green eyes.
