Fight Stick? Or Standard Controller?

Anything's decent with practice. But you can be like all of the rest of the cool kids and get a fight stick to show how pro you are...and then get scuffed up all the same. XD
 
In some games there are noticeable differences, but SC is so execution lite that they don't matter much here.

In Tekken, otoh, top level American players prefer pads because movement is complex and essential in that game, and is easier on a pad.

In a game like VF, on the other hand, the very nature of the game is tailored to stick-based play.

So yeah, if you want to play SC, go with whatever your comfortable with.

It doesn't really matter, just play what you're most comfortable with. You can whoop ass either way.
I grew up playing in arcades , so I use fight stick all the time
