Now you say that, but look at some of the top players:
Keev, Thugish Pond and Furzy use Fightsticks
On the other hand:
Malek, Pantocrator and Ramon use pads...
On SCIV it honestly doesn't matter - I think it does in Tekken or SF at high level, but it certainly doesn't here IMHO...

or i can go outside tear a twig of my tree can add wires to connect to my ps3. THEN i can call it a fight stick :D

You can usually bring your own pad to a tourney. People are more likely to lend their pad to a stranger than a stick if you want to use that argument.

Its way easier to get a stick at a tournament than it is a pad though. Some tournaments even have sticks to loan out to players.
