Smogon placed a quick ban on Mega Gengar/Gengarite because of the combination of shadow tag and perish song. (But according to most, Mega Kangaskhan is OP and deserves the ban)
More on topic, I was messing with the date in my 3DS settings menu so that I could max my lumiose city popularity faster but now they all act as if it is the same day? Did I permanently ruin the game or something?

Not a bad choice at all.
Protean Greninja does seem interesting - Especially as non-offensive moves (like Spikes) also activate it. Let us know how it goes :D

Mega-Khan has some pretty nasty tricks up it's sleeve, like getting +2 off Power Up Punch and can use Bulldoze/Rock Tomb (ew) to sharply lower the speed of anything it hits, whilst doing damage. And if raw power isn't your chief concern, double Body Slam has a decent chance of paralysing things.
Also, I'm not sure if Seismic Toss works with Parental Bond, but it'd be pretty interesting if it did.
As for your DS, just wait for the clock to tick over to tomorrow and the game should right itself - Tampering with the internal clock locks out some events for 24 hours/the rest of the day (seems to vary).
