In my eyes, the only reason for me to get hype over GoW again is if they improve the combat. That's probably the only department GoW really lacks in IMO which really isn't a good thing if it's considered an action title. The platforming and puzzles are well done but those gameplay aspects are the bulk of game in adventure titles, not action titles. In an action title, the combat is the gameplay aspect that is the bulk of the game. This is why I'm actually more hyped for Bayonetta.
While God of War 3's platforming and puzzles are more than likely going to be better than Bayonetta's, I honestly don't care because I don't play action titles for puzzles and platforming. I play games like Ratchet and Clank for that (and I won't lie, I think Insomniac does a much better job with their platforming in Ratchet and Clank). Now I'm not saying GoW's combat is shit, because it's not. However, comparing it's combat to DMC's, for example, doesn't make GoW's combat look appealing unless you can't look past GoW's presentation (the brutal animations and gore).
GoW is pretty much the jack of all and a master of none. The game is fun, but outside of it's excellent movie quality presentation it doesn't do anything spectacular.
