So what you're saying is that I should stick with fighter? What about the other vocations? Should I just switch my pawns vocation instead of my own and make her a powerhouse?
All of the vocations are good except warrior. What I mean by that is the other are better to such a degree warrior seems pointless. You can win as a warrior but other classes do what warrior does but much better. I'd highly recommend maxing the vocation rank with them though for the Clout augment, it really helps. Also, I would recommend changing your pawn to a Ranger. They have the highest ranged DPS, just make sure to put 5 fold flurry in the first skill slot.
Here's my opinions about all the vocations.
Basic:
-Fighter: Your tank. Shield summons is his main skill and it should be spamming it along with the skills that give him super armor to most attacks. Dragon's Maw has complete invincibility frames during it's animation to everything but ground stuns, dragon breath, and grab attacks.
-Strider: A "Jack of all trades" class that is average at everything. The special thing about this class is that they climb monsters at the fastest rate.
-Mage: Main support class. Removes some debuffs, enchants 1 character's weapons at a time, gives the party a defensive buff, heals.
Advanced: Offensive focused versions of the Basic vocations.
-Warrior: Same as warrior but can't block so he's worse by default. His normal swings have super armor. Great at killing harpies with jump light attack.
-Ranger: Your ranged physical DPS. Tenfold spamming is the main thing he'll be doing.
-Sorcerer: AoE damager. Removes the debuffs that Mage can't (including petrifaction). Has the best AoE skills.
Hybid: Mixes of the basic vocations that are only available to the Arisen.
-Mystic Knight: A broken class. Great ranged magical DPS with Great Cannon. Great melee damage with Abyssal Anguish(adds extra hits to your sword strikes along with increasing the range, devastates bosses). Can enchant the entire party at once(the duration is significantly shorter than the Mage though). Has wards of various effects. Reflects damage with perfect blocks(benefits from this even more with the shield counter spells). They main weaknesses are that they are prone to getting KD'd, the spells have rather long cast times, and that they can't draw aggro like a Fighter/Warrior.
-Assassin: Another class that's too good. It does everything a fighter does(minus drawing aggro), and has some skills that are only available to the Assassin. The shortbow skills for Assassin don't suck like the Striders(in my opinion). Has a skill that makes him completely invincible given he has stamina. Has the most broken augments.
-Magic Archer: The Hybrid class that isn't retarded. They're versatile and their arrows track the targets. My main compliant about this class is that the magic bow skills all come with a predefined element attached to them, even if you have your bow enchanted to something else that isn't that element the skill will still do damage of the predefined element(makes quite a difference when your opponent is resistant to the given element).
