In the animated series he saves the world :/ I thought that was kind of important.
Well, since Dante saves the world every single time he appears I don't consider it to be an actually important event in terms of canon. I consider it as important to canon as Dante bothering to use guns one or twice instead of melee weapons 100% of the time, since it's something we can very very easily and probably *SHOULD* take for granted.
Okay okay okay, I guess technically in DMC4 it was Nero that saved the world but in DMC saving the world is not a big deal as far as cannon is concerned.

The old DMC's story is better because its actaully something you can sit down and enjoy. The old dmc's story is a joke but thats what it is supposed to be in the first place.
Sometimes not taking it seriously and having fun with it is better than trying to be serious and falling flat on your ass.

"Yo Dante, they said you needed to appeal to families more so we're forcing custody of this brat on you. Go run around hunting down random demons for a few episodes before you save the world like usual."

Which of these sounds intentionally funny? The plots were always meant to be taken seriously. Bad writing is bad writing.

So you would rather prefer something that would make you want to rip your eyes out of your sockets because of how bad it is rather than something you would get a good laugh out of?
I do get some laughs from all the DMC purists that think the older games are some sort of divinity, hating on the reboot for having mostly the same issues as the old games and griping about the more minor changes as if they make the game unplayable.
Kyrie was just lame as hell. In a series with strong supporting ladies like Trish, Lucia, and Lady seeing a helpless "save me!" princess character was just really out of place for the series.
You forgot to mention Kyrie was also an intolerant bitch that somehow missed her boyfriend having a demonic arm for who knows how long. Shit, she's a bad character. I mean...damn. Just damn she sucks.
