A generation of internet culture

On the original topic:

I'm definitely a fan of the internet, but not so much the cultural side. I don't like it when people identify themselves with any particular culture too much, it's boring getting to know them.

Anyway, I love communicating on forums such as these. It's a public form of email, and you never know who might post something valuable. However, I don't understand people who talk to people they'll never talk to again, like on youtube comments or reddit, for example. I prefer forums because at least I'm bound to see the same people pop up again later, and let the discussions evolve and get to know the person better.

Back to your point on people saying stuff they wouldn't say in real life: Like I said, that's weird because I just talk to those I know I'm likely to message again later. So I already know I'm gonna keep my comments straightforward, or else it'd be weird if we came across each other in person, lol.

Also, I'm pretty sure people feel compelled to act different in certain scenarios because they don't have much self-confidence to begin with (i.e. their confidence is applied situationally and not universally). Most people are like this, so I don't blame them. Society is so fucked up, people feel suppressed to share their true thoughts because of insecurities and what have you. It's nothing to get angry about, though, because probably everyone is like this at some point in their life. Some just figure out how to feel free quicker than others.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here, Vincent. But to be honest your past posts towards me represents the exact picture I was trying to paint here. Not trying to bring up old crap, because after all it's water under the bridge at this point. But you can't deny you yourself have troll-like attributes as well.

But like I said, I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. My opinions about people can change.

I know you think "your above it all", but cmon Vince, you've been dragged and sucked into Trollness as bad as I have, and I'm trying to change that about myself.

But with your last few posts, I can't deny that I feel like I'm talking to a different person, in a good way of course. I think we just got off on the wrong foot.

While a lot of times I do try to be civil and mature on the internet, it can get boring. So I do enjoy trolling and goofing around every now and then to make things more interesting for me. It's hard for me to take the internet seriously a lot of the time anyways.

Well as long as it's in good spirits, and I know their just messing around, then I'm fine with it. Sometimes it's hard to tell though because tone of voice and body gestures are completely taken out of the equation.
