A generation of internet culture

First of all, the internet isn't as anonymous as people think it is, it does have consequences in real life. I can't remember how many stories I've heard about people getting in trouble for things they put on their facebook or whatever.

You want to know the worst thing that could happen? How about this?

However, with regards to trolling. It's not like it doesn't happen in real life, I know that when I'm hanging out we mess with each other. The internet variety isn't really that different, it's just a lot more common in general conversation.

There is a difference between friendly trolling and aggressive trolling, which is the difference between sarcasm and the Westboro Baptist Church.

Flamewars are a different animal, they are a result of conflicting arguments meeting and neither giving any ground. Eventually it will dive down into a bunch of name calling and similar. This too happens in real life, but on a smaller scale (since it's much harder to get 10 people discussing one topic) and it is the reason why it's bad form to bring up politics and religion at social events.

You're comparing the wrong things. Publishing stuff on facebook and blogs is a different beast than posting a user comment on youtube. Obviously more ppl are gonna get in trouble for being idiots on facebook than youtube. That being said, you're a homo.

It doesn't end with your and you're, for me. I don't like it when people don't capitalize letters, especially "I." The freaking internet has made people so much lazier...
