Oh dear, this thread... As much as I wish to stay out of the shitstorm, there's a couple points I feel obligated to address.
@
MightyOmega not all atheists are like this, just like not all theists are retarded like Ken Ham. You'be be dead wrong to regard this issue as a simple theist-atheist dichotomy, it a lot deeper than this. I'd rather not get to the specifics given the decaying quality of discourse in this thread, so here's the abridged version
(EDIT: clearer graph):
Now, having said that... PROVE TO ME THAT THERE ISN'T AN INVISIBLE UNICORN FLYING OVER MY HOUSE. WHAT IS THAT? YOU'RE SAYING THAT'S RIDICULOUS? HOW ARROGANT OF YOU!
This is what you guys sound like. This is what you sound like every single day.
Do you know what evolution is? I know this sounds condescending, but it's a genuine question.
Because Roman clerics realized that the only way for their shrinking peasant population to remain stable and controllable was to introduce an extreme form of fundamentalism that subjugated the barbaric culture of the Germanic invaders, so they stole the Jewish religion (which had proven to work as a method for survival to the Jewish people)and added a romanticized version of the
liberation movement for greater appeal to the masses. After some editing, the Emperor declared "Christianity" the new imperial religion and released what is now known as the Christian Bible.
What does this have to do with anything?
I'm not sure I grasp your argument, or what it has to do with these other questions you asked. Are you saying that you don't care about man-made beliefs, except for when that premise contradicts your personal biases and mythology? I could make the exact same argument as a Muslim, or a Buddhist, or a Jew, or a goddamned Scientologist. Or are you saying that since your parents taught you to love God, it'd be disrespectful towards them to develop your own opinion? Please skip all the rhetorical questions and get to the point of your argument, because I'm honestly having a hard time understanding what you say.
