I liked the ATTEMPT at making them relatable. Like I found it cool that they squabbled about their predicament and had to learn to co-operate. That much I enjoyed.

Well, I'm not going to argue over whether or not they were relatable. That would be rather silly, since its more on a personal level. I enjoyed them, though. The characters weren't what they first appeared, they put up fronts that had to be broken down, they all had their own personal goals and struggles (they weren't just "along for the ride" like a lot of RPG party members), and before the end of the story all of them showed a lot of character development.

Probably some of my favorite vidja game characters ever, actually. They're just trapped in a not-so-fantastic story that also suffers from somewhat tedious gameplay (in my opinion). It makes me miss FFX style turn-based combat. :/

Absolutely! While I didn't like FF13's (cannot be arsed into typing roman numerals) story, the characters themselves were pretty awesome ^^ I'd give anything for Sazh to be given another chance! And Fang. Wow, wow, wow. If I were a vg character, I'd want to be just like her! XD The tension between Hope and Snow in the first half had me on the edge of my seat. Playing sections with Vanille and Sazh were a joy :)
I'm only going to grip about Light and Serah who didn't speak to me much for some reason :/

because Lightning rarely ever said anything of substance. Just typical monotone attempt at being a heartless badass.

Its hard for me to decide rarely for me do J-RPGs ever have me liking the entire cast as Persona 4 and Tales of Symphonia 1 did. To keep a narrative the characters must all be strong-willed, supportive, constructive and not just go on whiny or annoyingly pretentious like what I get from the FF games. FF seems to perpetuate the very stereotypes that anime is generally hated for and rarely are the dubbed voices ever good. I just dont like how FF's characteres run on mostly meme-filled tropes rather then actual realistic deverlopment..
