Kayane's Hands-on Impressions of SC5

Firstly, I'm a fairly casual player (though I'm hoping to make it to my first tournament, Devastation, this Fall) so I guess my opinion isn't as informed as most o here.

I've been playing SC since SC2 and I use GI, but not very frequently. Except to send Algol's bubbles right back up his arse.

JG worries me a bit. It seems too simple with too high a reward... But that's kind of also what I think about GI. I'm glad they're nerfing it. People GI to the point where most moves in a character's moveset are completely useless. I hate watching a match and seeing only 4-9 moves used throughout the entire thing. Moreover, I can't bring myself to do that. I like to mix things up and use many different moves. More often than not, this leads to me losing a match. It shouldn't. What is the point in making so many moves if most of them can hardly even be used?

They need to find a way to open up the movelists (no, I don't think they should remove GI, that would be beyond lame) so that a character has 40+ useful moves to learn. And 40+ moves you have to be ready for, instead of 5.
What a civil and astute comment. I wish i could match you. cause i don't like being redundant and i enjoy using my characters full potential. so i bring style to the fight and win with that. but thats just me. so you may be very correct.

Man, THIS times over 9000

People are complaining for very little reason. Yes the system is totally different, but is it better? worse? WE DON"T KNOW! But at the very least, we have Kayane, one of the best SC players and longtime fan, saying that this new system is at the very least alot of fun and encourages mindgames and unique playstyles with vastly different characters. That alone is a step up from SC4... Why are people trying to write it off? Especially without giving it a chance? I don't get it at all.

[-__- ] .....smh

Premature haters, plz stop before this community falls into '3rd strike syndrome' -- where players are so stuck in the past that they fail to appreciate a superior game (which SC5 is personally looking like so far, compared to sc4). Nothing wrong with new features (as long as it works overall). Unless we want to eventually have a namco version of SF4
HERE'S WHY: all us veteran fighters and long time fans are still very sore at what they did with SC4. that's it! we're still very sore. SC4 is definitely an inferior game to SC3 or even SC2.

It just came to my mind that i had problems GIing lows in SC4 anyway, because most lows were so slow i always GIed too early.
Maybe i'm just too scrubby for that.
No. its just cause SC4 was terrible. SC3 was way smoother, it felt like a breeze to move your char!

At least SCIV made a vague stab at balancing. =P
You mean algol, Ivy, hilde, sophitia and apprentice (BS throw break)?
That's 5 characters who are stupidly powerful in sc4.

In sc3, it was just sophitia and X who dominated the rest. And hwang is not all that he's cracked up to be, even with 3AAB, which in my opinion isn't even his best move. Sure he's strong, but nowhere near broken as so many people claim.

Seriously, If you DON'T do VC, sc3 wasn't all that unbalanced.

Oh and let's not forget how Maxi went from low tier to LOWEST tier in sc4. Raphael went from mid to GARBAGE tier in sc4. Yun-Seong had a similar fate: he went from mid (maybe high-mid), to low in sc4. Talim went from low to LOWEST tier in sc4. Tira went from low tier to LOWER tier. Seong-mina went from low to LOWER as well.

Taking all these things into consideration, I definitely feel like sc3 was more balanced. Sc2 had them all beat when It came to balance.
