Whats happening to animals IS much worse then the holocaust. Not only do they inflict much more suffering on animals. But its being going on for longer, its still going on and no one gives a fuck.

LP: not sure what you mean by a pipe dream. The war on drugs is real, it's just kinda stupid (or a lot of it is). Some drugs though do really fuck you up, so we make it illegal for people to get them. Kind of like how it's illegal to help someone commit suicide. There are some drugs that should probably be legal, that doesn't mean though that all of them should be and that we shouldn't keep fighting against the import of heroin or cocaine.

You're simultaneously lumping all drugs together and segregating them (illegal drugs, that is). The only point I was making is that there will always be someone who wants to buy drugs and, because of that, there will always be drug dealers. If the government wanted to take a more militant stance against drugs, they would, but they know my first point just as much as any halfway intelligent person does, so they do just enough to keep the general public happy and make it seem like they're trying hard.

The fact that they can't is kind of part of the fucking point. If they were intelligent enough to speak (not communicate, but actual language processing) then everyone would regard the whole situation differently.

This is the perfect example of a stupid term. The other terms, racist, sexist, etc are designed to call attention to people making unnecessary distinctions. That is, people have different skin colours, but they are the same where it counts. People do or don't have dicks, but they are the same where it counts. "Where it counts" is thinking, feeling, having hopes and dreams, etc. Look up some inspirational speeches by MLK or something I'm sure he has something there about how we are all alike. Animals and us are pretty fundamentally different. So yeah, I am a speciest, I make a distinction between two things that are completely different. Call me a squarist too; I distinguish squares and quadrilaterals, I think certain mathematical theorems apply to one and not the other.

I'm curious: when a wolf eats a baby antelope in the wild, is this somehow more humane? It eats it as a baby. It actually starts eating it still alive! It doesn't go out of its way to kill it first. Snakes poison their victims in some cases, they die an agonizing and painful death at the hands of a toxin attacking their nervous system.

You are trying to apply morality systematically to a class of entities that is incapable of understanding what that is. Animals are not capable of moral behavior, so we are not obligated to treat them the same way that we treat one another. How exactly animals should be treated is a subject for debate within the context of human society as a separate issue. I am definitely not in favor of unnecessary cruelty to animals, but the word unnecessary is kind of key here.

Your arguments are grade school level, but even if they were 100% correct they do not change the feelings that I or most people have towards the misuse of the word holocaust. People who use that word in that context are not just mistaken, they are actually stupid as they are hurting their own cause. I will continue labeling people who use the word holocaust that way douchebags and assholes and will continue to refusing to hear what they have to say.
