No. The combat system sucks. (Only speaking of XG here, never played XS) The game's good despite the combat system sucking tho.

Xenogears is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. Haven't finished all 3 Xenosaga's but I plan to.

It's slow and grating in either mode IMO.

The gear combat could be streamlined a bit, but I loved the characters battles.
