OH SHIT!

That's brilliant. And mildly terrifying. :O

not to that point however, because manditory installs are marked as "YES" which is exactly what i was saying before. and those manditory installs are linked to your XBL account. and your XBL account requires an internet connection. to me, maybe, means potential in this case, as in they could potentially decide to throw more crap onto us, and even if they dont they could still leave the options for developers to do so anyways. but these manditory installs arent even a maybe in this case unless microsoft changes the way their system handles game installs entirely. as it stands now they are still enforcing DRM with that policy.
You do realize PS3 has mandatory installs right? We simple don't know how this stuff will work. I heard from my friend who is a (gaming journalist) that you could digitally lend games to someone. She also said every console connected to the same network would have access to the game but is subject to change. We simply don't know how it all works yet. Games may only need to be linked to your account if you don't want to leave the disc in while you play. That could be a feature of having XBL but locked out to people who don't have XBL. Which means installs would be how they are now.

This even further backs up what I said about not having all the facts. http://www.oxm.co.uk/54905/microsof...xbox-one-feedback-we-will-get-it-right-at-e3/
Straight from the article "A lot of assumptions but very little based on facts. We will share more at E3. We will get it right."

Getting it right has yet to be seen but I'd rather argue with the concrete facts than rant about rumors and misinformation, then feel salty when it was all for nothing. My time is better spent doing literally anything else. So I'm done on the matter till E3

What I think is dumb about the mandatory installs is that once game companies actually start using all the space a blu-ray disk offers you won't even be able to have 10 games installed on your Xbox One and when you want to play a game that isn't installed you'll have to sit there for like a hour(if not more) for a 60GB install...
You can play games while they install. Your supposedly able to play games while they download too.

Something I don't understand. These new consoles don't have backwards compatibility, which I get, but for DA3 for example, if it isn't backwards compatible how do I use my saves from DAO/DA2 to set the choices which have been made leading up to DA3 which impacts how the games story will go? I know Bioware intends to allow that like they do for DA2 and the ME series but I don't understand if or how they can still do that if the console doesn't support DAO or DA2.

not for most games PS3 doesnt do manditory installs - they are almost always optional, and for those that it does, the disc is still required to play the game because it is impossible to play without the disc unless it is a digital donwload, and it isnt linked to your PSN account because of it. the reason WHY PS3 games are even installed in the first place is to simply speed up loading times by caching frequently used parts of the game, not to manage the content in a different manner. I dont know your friend, but unless you have an article to back that up, im not gonna take your word for it. besides that im not going to be doing digital downloads i only buy retail copies, so i have no idea how i would be able to share my retail disc, digitally. that doesnt seem right at all. And we already know microsofts installs dont work the way the old consoles did.

that statement by microsoft is nothing but damage control - after the reaction they got, you should have expected this, although if they do have half a brain they WILL make all of the changes needed to make this console successful, but considering they were so gung-ho on doing things this way, i cant see that happening, at least not in the short amount of time before E3. if it did though, that would mean that threads and posts like these have served their purpose, but im not going to feel relief about anything until we know 100% for certain, that its a DRM free console. this article also doesnt cover what we DO know is currently there, such as the manditory installs linked to XBL accounts. The only thing that article literally says, is "We dont have all the facts" which means we have yet to know everything. but with what we DO know, the new xbox console isnt worth buying. if microsoft is determined to repair the damage they've done, they've got one hell of an overhaul to do before E3.

No offense, but you've provided nothing but a smoke and mirrors argument of "we dont have all the facts"(are you a microsoft employee?). but thing is, we DO have facts, and the facts that we DO have bode extremely poorly for the console - in order to change these microsoft is literally going to have to change their console. if you're going to tell me something, at least provide some concrete evidence to prove it. What evidence do I have? I've got microsofts console reveal on my side. But thats fine though. If your time is better spent somewhere else, then so be it, but MY time is better spent having a voice, raising awareness and calling out for change against things that many of us see as extremely detrimental to gaming as we know it. As i said before, if microsoft DOES turn things around, that means that people like us and threads like this, served their purpose. IF that day comes, until it comes, we'll keep stomping our feet and making our thoughts known.

Have fun with the data corruption while you play as you install/download. I could see being able to play OTHER games while you install/download, but not the game you are installing/downloading while you are installing/downloading it - its not only a security and a stability issue, its also impossible afaik because you cant even do that on PC, and PC's are waaaay more capable than consoles are. it also doesnt change the fact that the hard drive isnt nearly big enough, and that it can never be swapped out or changed - a feature once again present on current gen consoles.

Something I don't understand. These new consoles don't have backwards compatibility, which I get, but for DA3 for example, if it isn't backwards compatible how do I use my saves from DAO/DA2 to set the choices which have been made leading up to DA3 which impacts how the games story will go? good question about games like that. i actully have no idea how they would handle that - with ps4 youd probably just get to copy the files through usb over from your PS3, and then the game would probably have its own specially written code for decoding the file and reading what your choices are. for XBOX ONE, i believe the hard drives are encrypted, so they'd probably have to release an update for XBOX 360, allowing cable transfer of save files over from XBOX 360 to the XBOX ONE. in any case, either is somewhat nasty business, i'll give it that.

Anyone who hates on the Xbox One for having "non-resellable games" should stop. PC games for the longest time haven't been resell-able, and minus that fact, you're basically just installing the game to your profile. People are truthfully upset at the fact that they'll probably end up having to pay more for games.

I'm still waiting for some people to say it how it REALLY is, and just say "I'm upset because I don't have a lot of money, and Xbox One's non-used game set up will be hard for me." no, it usually just about how Microsoft is greedy. The funny thing is, PS4 will be doing the same thing, and they even announced: "You cannot play PS3 games on the PS4, but we'll resell them to you later on the PS4". So basically if you bought Uncharted 3 for the PS3, you'll have to buy Uncharted 3 again if you want to play on the PS4.

It's just the next gen of gaming, trying to become more like PC gaming.
