Why do people like First Person Shooter so much?

It's all moot, he's talking about invasion. There is nothing more random and absurd as invasion in Halo Reach. It's probably one of the worst gametypes they have ever made. Human weapon dominance over vehicles is broken, and at the same time the overall power of the scorpion and banshee are out of this world.

Sticking strictly to team slayer or objective, you will have a much more balanced experience. Maps like Uncaged and Countdown definitely have some balance issues, though. I'd pay that price any day, however, to avoid the snorefest that is Call of Duty. It's a well made series, but it is so damn boring and tried that I can't stand them anymore.

Oh wow, I did NOT know you were talking about invasion this entire time. Fuck invasion. xD

I almost never play invasion, as it's a POS. Not fun at all. :<

Real men play Killzone. That's all there is too it.

There a lot of popular shooters out there, most of it is just brainless casual gamer fun that people take too seriously because of popularity.
That's pretty much it. I can't even call these people gamers. X-box+COD or Halo, is what kids play. The games aren't competitively balanced, they're really not designed to be, more like cash cows.

If I am being honest.
The real shit is Counter Strike and Quake on the PC.

kingace...play BFBC2. it is amazing online. it is completely strategy driven. if you don't have a cohesive team with audio communication you WILL get raped 100% of the time. you have to balance the game yourself, with your team. unfortunately it doesn't get the praise it deserves for this same reason. people play it for a couple days, realize that they only know halo/COD and that they think a one man army and self healing are the way to engage in battle, and suck big time.

want to snipe? better factor in wind and gravity and bullet curving. want to run and gun? better have a fucking medic close behind you and a sniper in place guarding your medic. i've seriously come across like a dozen good snipers EVER and, like in real life, they are a priceless asset.

waiting for the all-clear call from my sniper and sprinting in to grab a truck so i could reverse it and pick up an engineer in the bed to drop some bombs in my truck and bail into the bushes and then driving it into an enemy stronghold, through the wall just in time for the bombs in the bed to kill me and level the building and score our team a quad kill was one of the greatest moments of planning and execution and awesomeness i've ever had in any game ever.

BFBC2 is seriously so insanely better than any other shooter right now. halo and COD are still like 3 generations behind it in every way except for graphics, which don't really matter when it trounces them in every other aspect. there is a 0% chance that anything will surpass it until BF3 hits...at which point you can kiss my ass goodbye for a solid month at least.

First of all, Resident Evil and Gears of War are 3rd person survival horror and action respectively. So get your facts straight Norik!
