Why are you good?

This dogmatic exaggeration will sound cheesy and weird but, "good" doesn't just come to you. You gotta earn it. Whether it be a video game, relationships of all kinds, or tedious jobs for instance. Besides, what may seem good to you, may not seem good to others. As Yoshimitsu says: Talk is cheap.

Everything in life that has the ability to be judged subjectively is judged that way. So, of course, we're only good or bad at anything in comparison to those that we know about. Really, though, if you think about it, in almost anything competitive, there's an answer to an action that counters that action (and repeat ad infinitum). Really, it's the fact that we aren't perfect that makes anything that is considered competitive both exciting and worth even competing in.

As for being a waste of time, really, when it comes down to it, as far as we know, everything is a waste of time. From prolonging our lives, to making money, to have kids, none of it is really 'important'. Really, we're all just biding our time until we die. Still, that's where, often, society and religion come into play (or, if you're hard-headed enough, yourself) and give you reason to do things.

Oh yeah, for something to think over, you should read Hobbe's Leviathan (Specially, regarding the state of nature). Though you can compare a lot of what he says to 'civilized' people, specifically, one excerpt states that, in nature, every being believes himself to be the best at everything, specifically because they don't get to know anyone else.
