Yes, Red Sparrow is top-knotch.
Saw someone posted Mogwai before, kudos...
But none of the aforementioned can touch Maserati, IMO.

Independent as in "underground?"
Pretty sure it doesn't get any better than 90's NaS, Mobb Deep, Jedi Mind Tricks, and Wu.

And for Classical, my favourite compositor is JS Bach with Little Fugue in G minor (Organ Fugue BWV 578), and another Organ Fugue in B Minor BWV 544. (piano version for the two of them is the best I think :) )
