Um, this has ALWAYS been the theory!

I like to say we're all descended from a fish with a dream. Okay I don't really like to say that, I just thought it up right now and I liked the sound of it.

but but but.....mutant ribosomes don't go through meiosis do they? ...making it impossible for a fish to turn into a frog (no evolution between species. Evolution happens within species every day and it can be seen, but not between species, or so I understand). Of course (as the theory goes) given enough time; anything can happen. Anything. Given enough time. Anything. Time. So given enough time, I could take all of the loose pieces that comprise a Breitling watch and shake them up in a bag. Even if it took a billion years, one day I would have a watch O_o. Oh wait, that's my argument against the Big Bang theory, not evolution. ...back to mutant ribosomes.

please please please no one use that watch and bag explanation ever again. reminds me of being back in catechism....*shivers*

also evolution between species happens all the time. when enough tiny changes have occurred...WHAM...you got yourself a new species.

my favorite example is a mammal called andrewsarchus, a giant ungulate carnivore that resembled a bear sized dog/boar thing with hooves. crazy shit indeed but they can trace thoroughly an evolutionary line between this creature, something similar to hoofed sea lions, and eventually modern whales. shit is nuts.

i like how it is all excepted as fact except where pertaining to humans...

Well technically speaking, everything in the scientific world is a theory. Have you noticed how they have abolished laws and now call everything a "theory" again? It's due to not being able to fully justify your conclusions and prove something impossible, and other semantics coinciding with that.

Well, if you want to get super-technical... nothing can be proved according to the Uncertainty Principle. We will never have the complete knowledge or precise measurements to fully prove or disprove anything.
