Rapid slash is far too slow startup for Firebrand to use. If Firebrand takes to the air calling that assist, Vergil would be wide open.

Yeah i agree.

But Judgement cut is pretty crazy it's so fast and it's hitbox is ridiculous. but if it's blocked, punishment is heavy, its not safe AT ALL.

Gun IS a good zoning tool because it's fast, not an input and controls the lower area from a higher area that most character cant' do anything about.
Rhino Charge was nerfed and that's a good thing, but it not being instant doesn't change that it's scary.
And he'll hit you low because now there are vulnerable jump frames where he can hit you on the ground. And if there's one character that can do that well , it's Wesker.

-His mixups with naked teleports can be option-selected with a throw, but you should be covering your teleports with an assist anyway.
-Gun isn't even an option against smaller characters, so it's not that good. Pretty much every other zoning tools goes clean through it too.
-Rhino Charge cannot punish anything on reaction now, so it's not scary.
-So hit him on your way back down with an air move to force him to block...like Dante's Hammer.

Judgment Cut is great. I use that if someone punishes Rapid Slash too much during a set lolol.

Vergil has two awesome assists that Firebrand can utilize, which is why I said Firebrand should be on point. I think Firebrand has OTG assist as well? If so, then Vergil can obviously use that for combos. And their DHC synergy is pretty good.

And Dark Vergil shits on Dark Wesker. No lie.

to be honest, it its your first time dealing with real players, the most important thing is landing a hit.....

when i first started playing, i made the mistake of trying to do all these fancy combos and mux ups and assist shit, and i continously got my ass whooped..........

then i was like fuck this, and i just played the game.........i started landing hits, and from there entered into the simple LMHS -j.MMHS combos............eventually i began to win matches..........

once i became more comfortable playing my team and i was used to how they moved, the speed of their attacks,when to attack, etc..... i started intergrated small bits off more advanced combos and more in depth character stratagies.

simply put, you have to get a "feel" for the team and the characters, before you have to start worrying about integrating high level play mechanics into your game......

because if you cant land a hit in the first place, then everything you learned is almost useless...........

my friend always told me, win with what you know you can win with............ then slowly add to your tools to win

iv recently run into a problem, my friend picked up a nasty spencer and hes been whooping my ass if that dude, anyone out there have any good stratagies in dealing with spencer.........

Well, that's probably why. Those three are all high execution characters.

I'm also not seeing much synergy here between them. As far as I can tell, Firebrand doesn't have that much in damage, and none of your assists are really there to reset the opponent for him.

Strange is a good anchor yes, but his Impact loop is necessary for good damage once or before XF runs out. And that's not the easiest thing in the world either.

I'd highly consider using at least one character that's ABC-ish yet solid. If not Wesker or Nova, maybe Captain America?

Again, not trying to name your team for you, but if you want to stick with that team, your execution has to go way up along with lots of patience.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I'm still with the main group I've picked since I first saw them when the leak came out (that is, Vergil, Firebrand, Strange), and trying to play another group of characters feels a bit too foreign to me and I can't really get a grip on them that well.


Basically, though, I'm just having trouble getting basic magic-series combos going after hitting the opponent. I'm not trying really fancy stuff, just really basic execution level things. For Firebrand its like L, M, H (2 hits) 236S. Half the time I do that, I end up just hitting launching the opponent instead the special Bon Voyage.

As far as assists go, I'm landing Bolts of Balthak, but I don't seem to get much out of it. More often than not, my assists are getting crunched before anything comes out. As far as getting additional hits out of a combo post OTG with Vergil, it appears that Firebrand's Hellfire is too slow and I can't get anything out of that. That's why I'm thinking of switching to the Swoop Assist or the Charge assist (not sure which to use yet).

Generally, I'm not fighting too many good players, but I am encountering lots of spammy players. Once ran into a player who used Dante and did nothing but throw out special moves canceled into other special moves - the ones we all know about. I've switched up my order from time to time and definitely feels better when I can leave Strange for last and alternate between Vergil and Firebrand as my first. I'm having a much better time working with Strange now that I'm using standing M and crouching M as my combo starters (instead of L). Still having trouble with landing 6H and post follow ups (trying to put out Graces or Eyes, not very successful).

Right now, it seems my biggest issues are lack of good assist synergy and lack of air dashes on all three of my characters. I'm also lacking solid overhead options with Strange and Vergil. I've used Judgment Cut a couple times as an assist, but haven't had much luck with it, but I want to keep trying to see if I can get anything out of it. Wish Vergil had Lunar Eclipse as an assist, though.
