So I got to play MvC3 at Evo. I didn't get to try out a whole lot because generally you got pwned by some asshat who already played the game prior and would pick all the top tiers before you could (in this demo only one player could use a character) and then sent to the back of the line again. Right now the game isn't balanced and it's not intended to be yet, they're still working on the mechanics. So here's what I know:
There is a L M H attack setup like in TvC. On the bottom is Special, Assist 1, Assist 2. Special acts as a launcher and can tag in an ally mid combo and keep it flowing. Tapping the assists does an assist and holding it does a tag out. This is very awkward and not well received it will likely change. At E3 tag out was back+assist but lead to the issue of not being able to assist while blocking.
Air dashing is limited to certain characters and changed balance this time around. It also seems as though every character will have two lvl 1 Hypers and a lvl 3. Deadpools lvl 3 was accidentally discovered and is funny as hell. It's a counter hit that if activated he will bat you opponent with their own life bar then pick up the super bar and beat them with that as well. 421AAA is the input (A attack, so L+M+H). There's also and interesting life gain you can do. It's L+M+H+Sp. and heals you're in characters red. Don't know what the penalty is, but the condition seems to be when an ally dies you get a stock to do it.
For balance, right now Dante, and from what I heard, Felicia are broke and will later be nerfed. A cool new thing is hit stun scaling. This means the longer a combo the shorter the hit stun to you is, preventing infinites from ever occurring in theory.
The game looks gorgeous as hell and it seems they have a good direction going. Once we see the mechanics fall in place I think we'll have a great game. Visuals and stage looks great and I like the menu and GUI. Also to be noted, the music is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
