Also keep in mind Marvel is aware of the 20 less characters than the last MvC. They were gifted with pre rendered sprites last time that freed up a lot of time. As well balance was not so much in mind that time around and having lots of characters in this type of game takes a very long time to balance check. That being said, they will more than likely add on characters after its release and patching has been done after inevitable exploits are figured out early on. Expect DLC or a $40 rerelease (im banking on this to be a new trend after BB:CT copied SSFIV) with new characters.
I expect some favorites will be intentionally left out to bait the future sale of the update.

Since the game is 3D models, rather than 2D sprites, Rogue could actually gain special moves like in X-men versus Street Fighter. That would be awesome. Plus I just really like Rogue anyway, so I really want Rogue in now.
